THINGS TO SEE & DO IN CAMBODIA

Rich in cultural heritage, Cambodia is establishing itself as a world's top destination. Through all ups and downs of a turbulent history, Khmer Empire's splendor is still shining today for the world to admire.

Angkor Wat has become the symbol and soul of Cambodia for its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance. The Angkor archeological complex proves aesthetic sophistication and intellectual power of an ancient civilization that is unmatched by any other wonder of the whole world.

Cambodia is little known for its pristine nature with lush tropical jungles, idyllic lakes and gorgeous beaches. Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville are all vibrant and enchanting cities while laid back villages on the banks of Tonle Sap Lake and Mekong River also makes a key appeal, especially for those who are escaping the rush.

The best time to visit Cambodia is during dry season, especially from November to March. In April and May, it gets very hot and humid, then comes the rain season through September.

SIEM REAP

Siem Reap is the provincial capital of Siem Reap province, which is over 300km north of Phnom Penh. Much of the city extends for 3 km from north to south along the Siem Reap River and 5 km from east to west along the National Road 6. Siem Reap means "Siamese defeated" in Cambodian and evokes a battle between the Siamese and Khmer armies which saw the victory of the latter.

Siem Reap is the gateway to the worldwide famous Angkor archeological site of Cambodia. The Angkor temples with its mysterious grandeur have been a national symbol and an endless source of pride for Cambodian people. Bearing both Chinese and French cultural influences, Siem Reap is also a city of fascinating architecture and landscape. The vibrant French Quarter and Old Market is packed with charming hotels, restaurants and shops, great venues for finest dining and shopping options all over the country.

Siem Reap is a land of exquisite traditions and festivals, especially the celebrated Apsara dance. It is also a city rich in art with a myriad of sculpture and handicraft shops around. Outside the city centre, Siem Reap countryside landscapes stretch out peacefully and beautifully with lush rice fields, rows after rows of palm and the laid back floating villages in the great Tonle Sap Lake. All will capture your heart.

ANGKOR TEMPLES

The famous archaeological site of Angkor is located 7 km from Siem Reap downtown. This monumental complex comprises more than a hundred temples, palaces and pagodas built between the ninth and fourteenth century during the reign of King Suryavarman II. These Angkor temples are evidence of a glorious time when Khmer Empire architecture reached its peak. This group of monuments constitutes the largest archaeological site of the world and has been the greatest source of national pride for Cambodian people and endless inspiration for millions of travelers worldwide.

PHNOMPENH

Phnompenh is a beautiful little town located on the bank Mekong River. Once considered a “Pearl of Asia”, one of the loveliest cities built by the French in the continent, Phnompenh is now the cultural, political and economic hub of Cambodia. Despite its growth and urbanisation, Phnompenh remains a laid back town where time stands still. There are a number of attractions for you to explore, including the Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, Central Market and Independence Monument.

SIHANOUKVILLE

Sihanoukville is a seaside town which hosts some of Southeast Asia’s best beaches. The city honors the name of the “Father of the Nation”, King Norodom Sihanouk.

OTHER SITES

While Cambodia's must visit destination, Angkor region, surprises you with its splendid cultural heritage, other regions of Cambodia offers a chance to discover its untouched nature with rivers, plains and beaches combined with local life exploration.
