Description
Diocletian’s Palace, the best preserved late ancient complex of residential type in the world. A rich treasury of culture and history. The heart of the palace makes the Peristil, the monumental square surrounded by beautiful columns.
Your attention will certainly attract a large Egyptian sphinx, a silent witness to past times and historical events. Near the square you’ll find the oldest cathedral in the world, originally the mausoleum of the Roman Emperor Diocletian who built the palace. Diocletian built a temple to his father Jupiter, the supreme Roman god, which today is considered to be the best preserved ancient building of this type.
Under the third of the palace are located cellars, original ancient substructure that hide many architectural and religious puzzles.
This is a unique experience walk, in front of you opens up an entirely new, unexplored world.
