WELCOME TO DJIBOUTI

Djibouti is a country located in East Africa; it is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Ethiopia to the west and south, and Somalia to the southeast. To the east of the country lies the Gulf of Aden.

The quality of sand in the beaches of Djibouti varies from one place to the other. While some beaches have white sand, some have dark while some other consists of volcanic rock features. The bare plains of Petit Bara and Grand Bara are a sight to remember for a long time. Other attractions of the Ali Sabieh Region include the pulsating local markets and its engaging witty traders. OBOCK
Obock is bordered by the African country of Eritrea in its northern side. The Tadjourah region lies to the south-west border of the Obock Region in Djibouti. The Red Sea and Gulf of Aden lies to the east of the Obock Region. The capital Obock is positioned on the Gulf of Tadjourah shore front. The total population of Obock city is less than 9,000 individuals. The capital city has a functional airstrip. There are regular ferry services to Djibouti city.

The topography of Obock Region includes a number of salt-lakes. The We'ima Wenz river flows through the area. The region gained prominence as the location of the first French colony in east Africa. The French first came to Obock Region in the 19th century. They set up a coal replenishing station for commercial steamships. The development of Djibouti as a major regional port signaled the beginning of the end of Obock as a naval port of importance. Obock gained fame as a base for United States troops in the Gulf region.
