WATERSPORTS
Watersports are most popular around the Boka Bay and Ulcinj, while the country’s mild climate makes it possible to get out on the water from May through to October. Protected from the open sea the Boka Bay’s tranquil waters are ideal for all kinds of watersports, and in 2013 Tivat became the home of Montenegro’s first wake-park.
Towards the south, the coastline becomes flatter with wide open sandy beaches perfect for kite and wind surfing. Alternatively, Skadar Lake offers a wide stretch of open water inland, surrounded by nature and full of wildlife. The lake spanning around 400km2, is perfect for a peaceful afternoon on the water.
There are several agencies operating in Montenegro which offer watersports with a wide range of activities and equipment on offer. For the more adventurous, Scuba centres provide access to great dive sites, including several deep water ship wrecks.
