Parma, my hometown, is in the middle of a territory renown for its cultural institutions, museums, art galleries, musical and gastronomic traditions; a crossroad in the Padana Plain well connected to the other most important towns in the Emilia Romagna region.
You can follow a variety of itineraries that will bring you back to the Middle Age and the Romanesque style , to Renaissance with the native artists Parmigianino and Correggio. Pervasive French influences are still visible in the historic buildings and the mannered elegance of its ‘piazzas’.
You mustn’t forget that Parma is also music; every year the Verdi Festival takes place in October. It offers the the possibility to follow an itinerary which starts from the Opera House in Parma and leads you through Verdi’s places: Roncole, Busseto and S. Agata.
In 2006 Parma has become the European capital of food when the E.F.S.A (European Food Safety Authority) was assigned to the city. In fact our territory boasts a deep rooted gastronomic tradition since the Middle Ages because food is a very important aspect of our culture . You can discover the delights of local cuisine joining a "gourmet tour".
