This Tour covers Tunisia from the south to the north focusing on Star Wars locations. The South of Tunisia has fascinating landscapes: canyons, gorges, desert, oasis, lakes and waterfalls. Many scenes from the famous movie were filmed in the south of Tunisia. This itinerary explores the most beautiful places of the country as well as the most interesting archaeological sites.
Day 1: Transfer to hotel in Tozeur
Day 2: Tozeur - Ong El Jemel
Today is rather a leisure morning in the oasis to discover the variety of products within a private oasis. After a carriage ride through the high palm trees, we will have a walking tour in the daily market and the old town to see the real daily life and admire the unique architectural style of this city. In the afternoon we will visit Ong Ej Jemal(the camel's neck) the location filming of Star Wars. (Decorations Tatooine) It is situated between huge sand dunes. Overnight in Tozeur
Day 3: Tozeur -Metlaoui - Oasis Villages
After breakfast our tour will set out for the town of Metlaoui, where we will board the Red Lizard train. The Red Lizard inches through narrow passageways and tunnels dug into the canyon walls and deep gorges. On our train ride we will discover the Selja Gorge and view the incredible landscape .Then we depart towards southwest to reach the mountain oasis of Mides, Chebika and Tamerza. Here you will enjoy a walking tour through the palm trees and the natural water springs. From Chebika we head to Tozeur.. Dinner and overnight in Tozeur)
Day 4: Tozeur - Ksar Ghilane
From Tozeur we head to Sidi Bouhlel where Many shots, from many different scenes in Star Wars: ANH were filmed, against a still very recognizable rocky background.Next we depart for further exploration of the south crossing the impressive salt lake. We stop in Douz, a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes. The village is known as the gateway to the Sahara .After lunch we drive to ksar Ghilane, a small oasis in southern Tunisia located on the edge of the Grand Erg Oriental. This is the Sahara of your dreams where extraordinarily fine, orange sand dunes stretch on for miles and miles overnight in tent ksar Ghilane
Day 5: Ksar Ghilane-Tataouine
After breakfast we head to Tatouine area, famous for its Ksars ; fortified Beber villages. Today you will really enjoy exploring Ksar Haddada (Mos Espa slave quarters), Guermessa ; a gorgeous Berber hilltop village and the Ksar Ouled Soltane ; a popular fortified granary famed to be the location of Slave Quarters .overnight in Tatouine
Day 6: Tataouine-Jerba Island- Matmata
From Tataouine we head to Medenine, the location filming of Anakin Skywalker's Home .The scene was shot in the Berber granary .Next we drive to Jerba, the Island of dreams and the location of Ben Kenobi's Hermitage (the home of Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Toshi Station (- a power station sited next to the fictional town of Anchorhead).In the late afternoon we depart Jerba for Matmata where you will explore Lars Homestead Interior (- a traditional Berber troglodyte underground building, now serving as the Hotel Sidi Driss).overnight in Matmata
Day 7: Matmata-El jem-Kairouan
Today, after visiting Matmata, we depart to El Jem where you will explore the impressive Roman amphitheatre dating back to the 3rd century AD. overnight in Kairouan
Day 8: Kairouan-Tunis
This morning you explore Kairouan, Tunisia's holy city and said to be the site of the first mosque in Africa. During medieval times, Kairouan rose to become an important center for trade and crafts. The region still provides the base for much of Tunisia's craft industry, particularly rugs and textiles. After lunch we drive to Tunis. Before Going to the hotel we will have a walk in the charming village of Sidi Bou Said with spectacular views over the bay and the mountains beyond. Overnight in Tunis
Day 9: Tunis- Carthage
This touring today centers around Tunis's archaeological heritage, and its wealthy architecture. This morning includes the visit of the the Bardo Tunisia's National Museum with its archaeological collections. The museum is displaying the world's largest collection of Roman mosaics and other priceless treasures from various parts territories throughout Tunisia. From the Bardo we move to the Medina old Arabic city for a walk around the most interesting monuments. After lunch we drive to Carhage where you will explore the Roman baths of Antonine, the Roman villas, and the Tophet (Punic roasting place) Overnight in Tunis
Day :10 -Transfer to the airport
