Description
Dobrich is the main town in the North-eastern part of Bulgaria. It is a sunny and windy town right in the heart of the Golden Dobrudzha - the granary of Bulgaria.
It is the best place to have a walk, get in touch with the culture and history of Bulgaria, taste some real food.
The town of Dobrich is situated almost in the center of the Dobrudzha plateau, 50km to the north of Varna. It occurred in the 15th century under the name of Hadjioglu Pazardjik. In 1882 it was called Dobrich after the name of Dobtotich, a former ruler in Dobrudzha in the past.
Now the town of Dobrich is the second largest economic center in Northeastern Bulgaria and one of the ten largest towns in Bulgaria - am important cultural, economic and administrative centre in the northeast economic region of the country.
Attractions in Dobrich:
Open-air Ethnographic museum "Old Dobrich" and Regional History Museum Dobrich - are located in the center of the modern city of Dobrich. It is a part of Regional History museum of Dobrich. Here are stored and presented Dobrudjan crafts from the late XIX-th and early XX-th century.
Museum Ethnographic House - It is located in the center of the town, near the church of "St. George". It was built between 1860-1861 by unknown master in the typical for Bulgarian Renaissance style. Today the house was restored and turned into a museum. There are represented the life and livelihood of the population of Dobroudja region the late XIX-th and early XX-th century.
St George’s Park - or the city garden as known among people of Dobrich is the most visited place in Dobrich by its citizens and guests. Its area is 430 dca and is divided into several sectors – “The Old Garden”, Children’s sector etc. In 1999 the old garden of the city park is announced to be a monument of culture and garden park art.
The walking tour is of about 2 hours but can be expanded according to the personal wishes.
