Education in Kuwait
Due to the increasing awareness of the importance of education, the number of Kuwaiti students have considerably increased. Hence, the establishment of Kuwait Schools, colleges and Kuwait universities have been stepping stones in Kuwait Education. The Kuwait schools also encompass the numerous American schools in the country.
The educational infrastructure in Kuwait Education has taken a developmental turn because of the improved economy brought about by the discovery of oil in the country. After the end of World War II, the Kuwait Government took the initiative of investing money in the sphere of education, building many schools and universities.
The constitutional amendment of 1962 assures that education is the fundamental right of all citizens. Hence, primary school education was made compulsory in 1965 and in 1967 a private school infrastructure was reestablished with ample support from the government.
Currently the number of students studying in Kuwait post a promising figure of 500,000, which is about 30 percent of the entire population. Kuwait Education also encompass the private and international schools that are sponsored by foreign countries. The Bayan Bilingual School,the British School of Kuwait, the American International School, the American Schools of Kuwait and the French School are some of the prestigious international schools in Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti government is taking ample steps in investing maximum amount of funds toward the growth and development of Kuwait Education.
