Bicycling
Many European cycling tour operators include Serbia on their itineraries. The Danube Bike Trail (DBT) passes through Serbia and bears the designation EuroVelo-Route 6 which means that it lies on the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) Atlantic – Black Sea route. In addition to providing fun for amateur cyclists, Serbia’s diverse landscape is also perfect for the International Cycling Race – Tour de Serbie, founded in 1939.
Walking and hiking
Walking, if time allows, is the best way to get to know a country, its people and their customs. Serbia’s centuries-old forests, vast plains, villages, towns and cities and mountain peaks are a real challenge for even for experienced hikers.
Besides recreation, physical satisfaction and enjoying beautiful natural sights and phenomena, you will also have the chance to see many historical monuments.
Horse riding
Equestrian sport began to flourish in Serbia during the 19th century and first half of the 20th century. The Belgrade Hippodrome was built in 1914 and race meetings, as a rule, take place on Sunday afternoons from April to October, attracting the best specimens from Serbia and nearby countries. Though there are many new stud farms, Zobnatica, Karađorđevo, Kelebija and Ljubičevo are still the leaders. If you visit one of the stud farms, you will learn about the breeding of horses and the development of equestrian sport in Serbia.
Skiing
Mountains in Serbia have much to offer skiers and winter sports lovers. Ski slopes in this country offer both beginners and experienced skiers the chance to take to the slopes. You can also go snowboarding, monoskiing, hang-gliding, snowmobiling and night skiing.
Cafes, restaurants and other hospitality facilities provide great entertainment and Serbia’s beautiful mountain regions will not leave you disappointed. Visit them – enjoy the sun and energy during the day and great fun at night!
